Dr. Katherine Downey, MD:
Trained as a Gastrointestinal and Liver Pathologist as well as a Clinical Pathologist, I have seen and studied countless diseases along with their progression and their sometimes dismal prognoses. After spending several years studying innumerable health ailments and illnesses, I soon realized that I wanted to take a different approach in treating disease and illness. Rather than addressing the already manifested diseases and ailments, I chose to focus my practice on a preventative front for those patients who wanted to ward off and prevent disease.
Because of the exponentially growing need for preventative care and wellness therapies, I founded MD Medical Spa and Wellness Center and have two offices (headquarters in Hyannis and a satellite clinic in Norwell) that serve the Boston metropolitan area, the South Shore, and Cape Cod and Islands. Both locations offer a full service menu as we offer a bevy of medical spa and wellness services with the latter focused on preventative and alternative healing measures mainly through the use of food and nutrition. I am excited and proud to share with you that 100% of the staff here at MD Medical subscribe to and adhere to the Dietary/Nutrition guidelines created and set forth for our clients and patients as I believe one can only recommend a practice if and only when they truly believe in it. Here at MD Medical, we practice what we preach!
After reading several studies and research articles, I embarked on my own personal journey to health by incorporating the results and advice from these studies into my own life and those close to me and basically anyone who would listen and take heed.
The results have been amazing...and continue to be so to current day! Come join us and see for yourself!
We have had several patients who have come to embrace our diet and nutrition lifestyles and their overall health has significantly benefited.
**Important to note is that each program is tailored to the individual and their current medical condition(s)/diagnosis and/or end goal**
Every chance I get, I remind each and everyone of my patients that, "With every bite you take, you make a choice..." It really is that simple.
I want to emphasize that this is a lifestyle, not a diet.
Please do not hesitate to contact us here at MD Medical if you are looking to lose weight and feel great! We look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you,
Katherine Downey, MD

Hippocratic Oath (Modern Version):
I swear to fulfill, to the best of my ability and judgment, this covenant:
I will respect the hard-won scientific gains of those physicians in whose steps I walk, and gladly share such knowledge as is mine with those who are to follow.
I will apply, for the benefit of the sick, all measures [that] are required, avoiding those twin traps of over-treatment and therapeutic nihilism.
I will remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeon's knife or the chemist's drug.
I will not be ashamed to say "I know not," nor will I fail to call in my colleagues when the skills of another are needed for a patient's recovery.
I will respect the privacy of my patients, for their problems are not disclosed to me that the world may know. Most especially must I tread with care in matters of life and death. If it is given me to save a life, all thanks. But it may also be within my power to take a life; this awesome responsibility must be faced with great humbleness and awareness of my own frailty. Above all, I must not play at God.
I will remember that I do not treat a fever chart, a cancerous growth, but a sick human being, whose illness may affect the person's family and economic stability. My responsibility includes these related problems, if I am to care adequately for the sick.
I will prevent disease whenever I can, for prevention is preferable to cure.
I will remember that I remain a member of society, with special obligations to all my fellow human beings, those sound of mind and body as well as the infirm.
If I do not violate this oath, may I enjoy life and art, respected while I live and remembered with affection thereafter. May I always act so as to preserve the finest traditions of my calling and may I long experience the joy of healing those who seek my help.
